This is my go-to rub. I use it on Everything except seafood. Beef, chicken, pork...it works on all of them.
Many time when talking with others who grill, they have different types of rubs they use for different meats. I personally think that most rubs are basically the same base but then you add a few tweaks here and there for the meat that you are cooking. Well I guess I am lazy as I really love using this one. This is not the only rub I use but I bet I do use it 80% of the time.
This rub does requite that you use the Seasoned Salt recipe. This rub is another recipe where I tend to make more and store it in my mason jar for later. I get tired of having to keep whipping up the rub during the week when I do not have a lot of time to cook. Like most recipes, I cannot remember where this came from. I think my brother gave it to me and I tweaked it a bit to my taste.
8 tsp Seasoned Salt
4 tsp Dark Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Sugar
1 tbsp Paprika (I prefer Hungarian)
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Mustard Powder
1/4 tsp Ground Cumin
1/8 tsp Ground Ginger
I usually make 4-5 times this recipe and store it. I would not recommend storing it for weeks on end but I usually will use this amount in less than 2 weeks.
